Basketball Game Preview: Walnut Ridge Scots vs. Independence 76ers

Walnut Ridge and Independence are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Walnut Ridge Scots will be playing at home against the Independence 76ers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Walnut Ridge is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Walnut Ridge is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 59 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Africentric Early College on Tuesday. They were beaten by the Nubians 78-23. The contest marked the Scots' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Independence was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Marion-Franklin 53-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the 76ers.

Independence pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for Walnut Ridge, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
