Softball Recap: Alexander Bulldogs vs. Laredo LBJ Wolves

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eagle Pass, Alexander was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Laredo LBJ Wolves 12-11. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Deandra Martinez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Martinez was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Carmen Perez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Andrea Cantu was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Alexander was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .459. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in six consecutive matches.

With the victory, Alexander broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-18. As for Laredo LBJ, they dropped their record down to 15-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coincidentally, Alexander and Laredo LBJ will both be playing United the next time they take the field. The Wolves will host the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Bulldogs will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
