Basketball Recap: Hunter Robins' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wayne over Green River

Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 56-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Green River Pirates. The Badgers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Wayne lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Hunter Robins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. Robins is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Blake Peterson was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 14 points along with five assists and three steals.

It was another big night for Antonio Macias, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 23 points for Green River. Another player making a difference was Cristian Venzor, who posted six points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Green River, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Green River, they will challenge Monument Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
