Baseball Recap: Regents Find Success

Regents took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Grace Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Warriors 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 26, 2024.

Peter Mierzejewski made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Regents' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Paul Duval, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Joseph Porter was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Regents and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Grace Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
