Softball Recap: Sandwich Gets the Win

Sandwich's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They never let the Carver Crusaders get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Blue Knights have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sophie Farrington made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Consalvi, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Amaya Balboni was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Sandwich's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Carver, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Sandwich will square off against Cardinal Spellman at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carver, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Middleborough at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
