Recap: Shields Panthers vs. Hillcrest Jaguars
The Shields Panthers were the 52-42 winner over the Hillcrest Jaguars when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Shields took a 42-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillcrest on Saturday. Shields has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Sonija Evans was the offensive standout of the match as she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Khloe Clark was another key contributor, scoring six points along with two steals.
Shields has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Hillcrest, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Shields will head out on the road to challenge McKenzie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McKenzie is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Hillcrest, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Escambia County at 6:00 p.m.
