Basketball Recap: Atlantic's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against University last Tuesday, Atlantic came back down to earth. The Atlantic Sharks took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winter Springs Bears. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Sharks came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Bears are ranked 213th).

Winter Springs' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Stringer, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Stringer a new career-high. Another player making a difference was William Sanders, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

With the defeat, Atlantic broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-5. As for Winter Springs, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic has already played their next game (against Pine Ridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Winter Springs has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Faith Christian.
