Baseball Recap: Beech Grove Comes Up Short

After flying high against Irvington Preparatory Academy on Saturday, Beech Grove came back down to earth. The Hornets fell just short of the Lawrence Central Bears by a score of 7-5 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 10-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Griffin Matracia was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Beech Grove is 3-1 when Matracia posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-10 otherwise.

Beech Grove moved to 4-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lawrence Central, the win snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-11 record.

Beech Grove wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 18-3 defeat against Indian Creek on the 5th. As for Lawrence Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 loss against Kokomo on the 6th.
