Basketball Recap: Bedford Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

It was a good run, but Bedford unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 65-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Garfield Heights Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked eighth).

Bedford's loss came despite strong showings from Terrell Pollard and Kevin Woodgett III. Pollard dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Woodgett III went 7 for 10 en route to 19 points and five assists. Those 28 points gave Pollard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaivon Hudson, who posted three points and five assists.

Bedford's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-4. As for Garfield Heights, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

Bedford has already played their next match (against East Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Garfield Heights will take on Wayne at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. Garfield Heights knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Wayne likes a good challenge.
