Baseball Recap: Sebastian River Comes Up Short

Sebastian River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Okeechobee Brahmans. If the Sharks were looking for revenge after losing 6-0 to them when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Thomas Villars made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Zayden Figuerora also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Sebastian River's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Okeechobee, the win got them back to even at 2-2-1.

Sebastian River and Okeechobee's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Sebastian River and Bayside (who has only given up 0.5 runs per game) will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Okeechobee will face off against South Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed 3.43 runs per game.
