Basketball Recap: Maret Falls Short Against Ranked Sidwell Friends

On Thursday, Maret faced Sidwell Friends in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Maret Frogs came up short against the Sidwell Friends Quakers, falling 63-42. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Quakers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 52-27 loss two weeks ago.

Sidwell Friends' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jalyn Collingwood, who went 11-for-16 on his way to 28 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Collingwood a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Gillus, who went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Maret now has a losing record of 13-14. As for Sidwell Friends, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Maret does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sidwell Friends, they have already played their next matchup, a 60-50 victory against Flint Hill on the 22nd.
