Basketball Recap: Katie Griffey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lucas over Buckeye Central

If Lucas was feeling good fresh off their 54-17 takedown of Black River last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lucas Cubs took a 53-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckeye Central Bucks on Thursday. The Cubs haven't had much luck with the Bucks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Lucas lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Katie Griffey, who posted 14 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Riley Trumpower, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points.

Lucas' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for Buckeye Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-10.

Lucas has already played their next matchup (against East Knox), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Buckeye Central has already played their next game, a 49-35 defeat against Seneca East on the 25th.
