Basketball Recap: Vandegrift's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Vandegrift had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 63-45 victory over the Brewer Bears.

Jayden Johnson and Carter Scott certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Johnson dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Scott went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points. Johnson has also also been stellar as far as field goal percentage is concerned: he's posted one of at least 60% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Braelon Orr, who posted nine points and five boards.

Vandegrift's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Brewer, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Vandegrift didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-47 victory against Bowie on the 22nd. As for Brewer, they will square off against Life Waxahachie at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
