Sumner lost to Monterey back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. Sumner blew past Monterey 13-2. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won 15 games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Sumner has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. Monterey is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

Sumner didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-4 win against Family Community Christian on the 21st. As for Monterey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 16-1 defeat against LaSalle on the 21st.
