Preview: Wilby Wildcats vs. Crosby Bulldogs
Wilby is 0-10 against Crosby since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wilby Wildcats will play host again and welcome the Crosby Bulldogs, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wilby has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 665 points over their last eight matches.
Wilby put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Monday. They claimed a resounding 92-40 win over Wolcott at home. That looming 92-40 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wilby yet this season.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Crosby's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 71-55 fall against Waterbury Career Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Crosby has scored all season.
Crosby's loss came about despite a quality game from Curtis Ellis, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeydan Benjamin, who scored seven points along with eight assists.
Wilby's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Crosby, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Wilby came up short against Crosby when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 72-65. Can Wilby avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
