League recap: Downey's Heltne delivers best pitching performance from past week

Modesto Metro league recap: 3/20/13

Downey's Darion Heltne was the best pitcher in Modesto Metro this week. Over the past week, he had one win and 13 Ks.

The Knights outperformed the rest of the league this week, as their two total wins led the league. Downey beat Patterson 4-2 and Central Valley 2-0.

Johansen struck out 54 times as a team over the past week, but Modesto is still the biggest offender of strikeouts on the season, with 69 in all.

Gregori put four runners on via walks this week, fewest in the league, but Davis's staff still boasts the league's best control, having issued only 11 bases on balls over 17 total innings.

The league boasted four .400 hitters over the past week. The group was paced by Roberto Flores, who collected three hits in five at bats for a .600 average.



The Knights' Heltne struck out 13 the Hawks hitters en route to a 2-0 victory on March 14. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed zero runs on two hits.
