Softball Recap: Sachse Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Sachse put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They never let the Naaman Forest Rangers get on the board and left with a 21-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Logan Schultz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sachse got a massive performance out of Cailyn Shane, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Shane a new career-high. Maya Mcclarity was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Sachse was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .773. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in seven consecutive matches.

Sachse pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Naaman Forest, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Sachse will venture away from home to face off against Rowlett at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Naaman Forest, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against South Garland at 6:30 p.m. The Rangers are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
