Basketball Game Preview: Chiefland Indians vs. Trenton Tigers

Chiefland hasn't had much luck against Trenton recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Chiefland Indians will host the Trenton Tigers at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Trenton is hoping to do what Bell couldn't on Monday: put an end to Chiefland's winning streak, which now stands at seven games. Chiefland blew past Bell 65-38. With the Indians ahead 41-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Chiefland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyasia Bivins, who posted 25 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. The game was Bivins' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bell, who had 14 points and six steals.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Trenton on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Bell out of the water with a 69-19 final score. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 430th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chiefland pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.5 points. As for Trenton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Chiefland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-21 loss to Trenton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024.
