Baseball Game Preview: Asheboro Blue Comets vs. Jordan-Matthews Jets

For the second straight game, Asheboro will face off against Jordan-Matthews. The Blue Comets will challenge the Jets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Asheboro has three straight victories, Jordan-Matthews has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Asheboro not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024 (when they won 9-0). They blew past Jordan-Matthews 10-2.

Gavin Allen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Asheboro got a massive performance out of Adam Curry, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Jacob Tevebaugh was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Jordan-Matthews' defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Asheboro, their record is now 8-15.
