Recap: Sierra Blanca Vaqueros vs. Van Horn Eagles
The Sierra Blanca Vaqueros lost against the Van Horn Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sierra Blanca fell 35-25 to Van Horn. Sierra Blanca has struggled against Van Horn recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Van Horn to victory, but perhaps none more so than Malia Bermudez, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bermudez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgi Sparks, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Sierra Blanca's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Van Horn, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sierra Blanca will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Balmorhea at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Van Horn, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Dell City at 1:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Dell City has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Van Horn will arrive with four straight victories.
