Basketball Game Preview: Valencia Jaguars vs. Miyamura Patriots

The Valencia Jaguars will take on the Miyamura Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valencia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.6 points per game this season.

Valencia is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Los Alamos, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Valencia was ranked 12th). Valencia blew past Los Alamos, posting a 50-22 victory. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on three straight.

It was another big night for Jadyn Montoya, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Montgomery, who went 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 61-22, which was the final score in Miyamura's tilt against Valencia on Saturday. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Valencia's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. As for Miyamura, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
