Baseball Recap: Los Alamitos Drops Highest Score of Season Against Edison

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Los Alamitos). They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Edison Chargers on Friday. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Los Alamitos got a great performance from JACK LORENZ as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. LORENZ has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, TYLER SMITH was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). DEVIN PORCH was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Los Alamitos is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That lines up perfectly with their 9-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Edison's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Los Alamitos will host Marina at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Marina's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Los Alamitos' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Edison, they will be playing at home against Newport Harbor at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Newport Harbor will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Edison surely won't give up without a fight.
