Baseball Recap: Harbor Springs Wins Going Away Against Cheboygan

After losing to Cheboygan the last time they met, Harbor Springs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Rams put the hurt on the Chiefs with a sharp 9-2 victory on Monday. Considering the Rams have won six games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Carson Truman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Harbor Springs is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Truman was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Truman wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben McShannock, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Max Vroman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Harbor Springs pushed their record up to 8-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cheboygan, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Looking ahead, Harbor Springs will be playing in front of their home fans against Johannesburg-Lewiston at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cheboygan, they will head out to square off against Sault Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
