Preview: Fort Collins Lambkins vs. Grandview Wolves
The Fort Collins Lambkins will head out on the road to face off against the Grandview Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Fort Collins has not done well against George Washington recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Fort Collins was the clear victor by a 56-34 margin over George Washington. Given Fort Collins' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while George Washington is ranked 226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Avery Alcaraz, who scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Claire Wagstaff was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Grandview had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Windsor 84-53 on the road. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 17 more assists than your opponent, as Grandview did.
Sienna Betts continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 35 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Grandview's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Yi, who scored 10 points along with 9 assists and 5 steals.
The win was the third in a row for Fort Collins, bringing their record for this year to 3-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points per game. As for Grandview, their victory bumped their record up to 1-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Fort Collins hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61.3 points per game. It's a different story for Grandview, though, as they've been averaging only 60.5 per game. The only thing between Fort Collins and another offensive beatdown is Grandview.
