La Costa Canyon lost against Vista Murrieta back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mavericks fell 3-1 to the Broncos. The Mavericks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

While La Costa Canyon ultimately came up short, they really made Vista Murrieta work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 26-24, 22-25, 25-16.

Despite the defeat, La Costa Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Pania Golestani had 15 digs. Golestani is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Olivia Moody also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Vista Murrieta found their leader in sophomore Kaylin Sun, who had 16 digs and six assists. Those 16 digs set a new season-high mark for Sun.

La Costa Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Vista Murrieta, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

La Costa Canyon has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Hilltop on the 29th. After both having extra time off, Vista Murrieta and Centennial will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
