Recap: Needville Bluejays vs. Bellville Brahmas
The Needville Bluejays had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They took down Bellville 50-32. Given Needville's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Bellville is ranked 1041st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Needville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keilan Sweeny, who scored eight points along with six assists and five steals. Sweeny has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bohdan Zeitz, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Needville's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.9 points per game. As for Bellville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Needville will be playing in front of their home fans against Navasota at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bellville, they will head out on the road to take on Royal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Royal has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 203 points over their last three matchups.
