Baseball Recap: Branford Victorious

Branford hadn't done well against Hamilton County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Branford Buccaneers walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Hamilton County Trojans. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Patrick Williams and Enalee Perry made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Williams pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Perry tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Williams scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Perry went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Williams has become a key player for Branford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Troy Roberts was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Branford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).

Branford now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Hamilton County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6-1 record this season.

Branford will take on Jefferson County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.38 runs per game on average), something Branford will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hamilton County, they will face off against Georgia Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Georgia Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Hamilton County surely won't give up without a fight.
