Preview: Franklin Academy Patriots vs. Falls Lake Firebirds
The Franklin Academy Patriots will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Falls Lake Firebirds at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Franklin Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Franklin Academy posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They breezed by Research Triangle at home to the tune of 71-31. With Franklin Academy ahead 36-11 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Franklin Academy found their leader in underclassman Hayes Lewis, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Pace, who scored six points along with nine assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Falls Lake was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 41-35 to NCSSM: Durham. Falls Lake has not had much luck with NCSSM: Durham recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Franklin Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Falls Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Franklin Academy and Falls Lake were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but Franklin Academy came up empty-handed after a 50-49 loss. Thankfully for Franklin Academy, Jesse Igbide (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
