Softball Recap: Holtville Takes a Loss

Holtville blew Pike Road out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Pike Road got their revenge. The Holtville Bulldogs fell just short of the Pike Road Patriots by a score of 6-4. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 12-2.

Brooke Findley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, Bailea Boone was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Anna Lawrence was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI.

Holtville has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-6-1 record this season. The victory snapped Pike Road's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-14 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holtville will challenge Maplesville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pike Road, they will square off against Russell County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
