Football Recap: First Academy Starts Season with Win on the Road

First Academy had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Lakeside Christian Lions as they made off with a 41-18 win.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead First Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Henry Purvis, who threw for 193 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards. Those 193 passing yards gave Purvis a new career-high. Luke Rutzebeck was another key receiver, gaining 76 total yards and two touchdowns.

When it comes to explaining why Lakeside Christian lost, don't look at Peyton Rochell. Despite the final result, he threw for 203 yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, First Academy will take on Saint Francis Catholic Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeside Christian, they will square off against Cornerstone Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
