Springdale Prep faced Riverdale Baptist in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lions walked away with a 77-68 win over the Crusaders. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Springdale Prep was led to victory by Jordan Costley and Larry Duncan. Costley went 8-for-17 to rack up 20 points along with seven assists and five boards, while Duncan shot 88% from the field en route to 14 points. What's more, Duncan posted three assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Jay Green was another key player, putting up 12 points and six assists.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Springdale Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Riverdale Baptist lost, don't look at Dez Ainsworth. Despite the final result, he shot 50% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, Ainsworth is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Derrick 'DJ' Robinson, who earned 15 points and four steals.

Springdale Prep's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Riverdale Baptist, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Springdale Prep will take on Clinton Grace Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Riverdale Baptist, they will square off against Virginia Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Crusaders' defense better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 56.8 points per game this season.
