Basketball Recap: Lake Ridge Academy Royals vs. Harding Skippers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clearview, Lake Ridge Academy was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They managed a 30-26 win over the Harding Skippers. The victory was some much needed relief for the Royals as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Lake Ridge Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lillian Shmois out in front who posted eight points and nine boards. Shmois is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kathryn Krueger, who had ten points and four steals.

Lake Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, Harding saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ella Adams earned ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adams has scored all season. Jaylen Alspaugh also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Lake Ridge Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Harding, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lake Ridge Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-18 defeat against Open Door Christian on the 18th. Harding has also already played their next game, a 61-9 loss against Grand Valley on the 18th.
