Jefferson Forest and Amherst County are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cavaliers will host the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jefferson Forest has eight straight wins, Amherst County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Jefferson Forest's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Cavaliers have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Amherst County might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Buckingham who claimed the real prize. The Lancers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-8 to the Knights, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Jefferson Forest pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Amherst County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Jefferson Forest came out on top in a nail-biter against Amherst County when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
