Basketball Recap: Lehi's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lehi entered their tilt with Salem Hills on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They enjoyed a cozy 74-58 victory over the Salem Hills Skyhawks. The Pioneers pushed the score to 62-42 by the end of the third, a deficit the Skyhawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Lehi's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Easton Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten assists. The dominant performance gave Hawkins a new career-high in assists. Another player making a difference was Ashton Shewell, who posted 18 points.

Hawkins wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Lehi was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Salem Hills lost, don't look at Kade Moser. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacoby Gustin, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Lehi has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Salem Hills, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Lehi will venture away from home to take on American Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lehi knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully American Fork likes a good challenge. As for Salem Hills, they will host Springville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Salem Hills is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.
