Baseball Recap: Leto Comes Up Short

Leto extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-7. They came up short against the Gaither Cowboys, falling 7-0. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 12-6 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gaither, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games.

For Gaither's part, Dylan Schale looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Schale has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gaither got a big performance out of Albert Antinori, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. What's more, Antinori posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Yenier Chirinos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Coming up, Leto is taking a road trip to square off against Hillsborough at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Terriers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Gaither, they will head out to take on Bloomingdale at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulls' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
