Soccer Game Preview: Calera vs. Shelby County

The Calera Eagles will take on the Shelby County Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Calera will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals last Monday, then bounced right back against Benjamin Russell on Friday. The Eagles came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 4-2.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Wildcats on Tuesday. Shelby County and Tarrant finished up their matchup with a 3-3 draw. The result (or lack thereof) marked Shelby County's first draw of the season.

Calera has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five contests. Shelby County's draw makes their record 3-5-1 this season.

Everything went Calera's way against Shelby County in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, as Calera made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
