Softball Recap: Gulf Shores Dolphins vs. Headland Rams
Gulf Shores put the finishing touches on their 20th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Headland Rams with a sharp 11-1 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gulf Shores also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2023.
Maddi Nelson was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Nelson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Nelson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Anna Leigh Price and Tia Titi did most of the damage at the plate: Price scored a run while going 2-for-2, while Titi scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Anayia McCutchen was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
Gulf Shores has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 34-9-2 record this season. As for Headland, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-20.
