Recap: Saint Mary's Panthers vs. Maria Carrillo Pumas
After flying high against the Richmond Oilers last Saturday, The Saint Mary's Panthers came back down to earth. The game between Saint Mary's and Maria Carrillo wasn't particularly close, with Saint Mary's falling 31-14. Saint Mary's was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Maria Carrillo apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Despite the loss, Saint Mary's still got an impressive performance from Marley Filson, who rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 25 yards and a touchdown on only two passes.
Saint Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Maria Carrillo, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saint Mary's will take on St. Patrick-St. Vincent at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. St. Patrick-St. Vincent is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Maria Carrillo, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Vincent de Paul at 7:00 p.m. St. Vincent de Paul is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
