Baseball Recap: Roxborough Wolves vs. Bodine Ambassadors
Roxborough had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it six. They came up short against the Bodine Ambassadors, falling 14-6. The Wolves were not able to make up for their loss to the Ambassadors from their previous meeting back in May of 2017.
As for Bodine, they now have a winning record of 5-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
For Bodine's part, Mohammed Williams was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Williams is becoming a predictor of the Ambassadors' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cierr Floyd, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Roxborough will head out to square off against Martin Luther King at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.5 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bodine, they are taking a road trip to take on Abraham Lincoln at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Ambassadors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Railsplitters have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
