Basketball Game Preview: Calverton vs. Avalon Black Knights

Calverton will face off against the Avalon Black Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Calverton is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Lanham Christian on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Calverton was dealt a 69-36 loss at the hands of Lanham Christian. Calverton was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Meanwhile, Avalon waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 71-59 victory over the Tigers. The score was all tied up 33-33 at the break, but the Black Knights were the better team in the second half.

Calverton dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Avalon, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Calverton took a serious blow against Avalon in their previous matchup on January 14th, falling 70-40. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Avalon's Jordan Fox, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points and three steals.
