Basketball Game Preview: Flinthills Mustangs vs. Canton-Galva Eagles

The Flinthills Mustangs will face off against the Canton-Galva Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flinthills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Friday, Flinthills came up short against South Haven and fell 73-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Flinthills' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Charles Farris, who on his way to 15 points and eight boards, and Jacob Hunter, who posted 20 points and six assists. Hunter's big performance that evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tripp Carney, who earned six points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Canton-Galva ended up a good deal behind Central Plains on Thursday and lost 52-35. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Oilers are ranked 78th).

Flinthills' defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points over those games. As for Canton-Galva, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season.
