Senior wide receiver led Brandon Valley to its best season since 2020.
Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Landon Dulaney of
Brandon Valley (Brandon) is the 2024 MaxPreps South Dakota High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior wide receiver helped the Lynx go 9-1 and finish as the Class 11AAA state runner-up.
Dulaney finished the season with 82 receptions for 1,064 yards and 19 touchdowns. In a 31-21 loss against Lincoln (Sioux Falls) in the championship game, he posted 12 catches for 79 yards and two scores.
His best game came in a 37-34 overtime win over Jefferson (Sioux Falls) in the semifinals, piling up 15 receptions for 181 yards and three touchdowns. He led the Lynx to their best season since 2020 when they won the state title.
Dulaney led Brandon Valley to a big 39-13 win over Lincoln (Sioux Falls) in the regular season, posting six catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns. That win snapped Lincoln's 17-game win streak.
Regarded as one of the top prospects in the state by
247Sports, Dulaney committed to South Dakota State in May.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
