The Lincoln Northwest Falcons will face off against the Norris Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Northwest is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Lincoln Northwest came up short against Crete on Friday, falling 76-51. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Cardinals are ranked 29th).
Despite their loss, Lincoln Northwest saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Myles Parker, who posted 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Tayden Wynn was another key player, going 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points and six boards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Norris, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 78-63 victory over Elkhorn North on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with Elkhorn North: they've now won eight in a row.
Lincoln Northwest better keep an eye on Chris Garner Jr.. He was instrumental in Norris' win, going 9-for-15 en route to 21 points and three blocks. Garner Jr.'s evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Barret Boesiger, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 15 points.
Norris pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Lincoln Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Lincoln Northwest has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Norris struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Lincoln Northwest was dealt a bruising 70-28 loss at the hands of Norris in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lincoln Northwest was down 36-13.
