Recap: Steward Spartans vs. St. Catherine's Saints
The Steward Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 20 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better start to 2024 than the 53-24 blowout they got at home against St. Catherine's. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-3.
Leading Steward to victory were Ava Johnson and Sanai Green. Johnson scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Green dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Green's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tori West, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Steward's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for St. Catherine's, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 4-4.
Steward will be playing at home against Virginia Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Catherine's, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Margaret's at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
