Basketball Recap: Pojoaque Valley Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pojoaque Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 40-27 win over the Taos Tigers on Thursday. The Elks/Elkettes haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Taos' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julianna Flores, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Ciera Castillo was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Pojoaque Valley pushed their record up to 18-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points over those games. As for Taos, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Pojoaque Valley nor Taos have any future games scheduled.
