Softball Game Preview: Southern Wells Raiders vs. Southwood Knights

Southern Wells is 0-7 against Southwood since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Raiders will host the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Southern Wells has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southern Wells came up short against Woodlan on Thursday, falling 13-1. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Southern Wells saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyah Thomas, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, it was a classic North v. South duel when Southwood challenged Northfield on Wednesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Norsemen. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Norsemen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Izzy Ashba was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and three RBI while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Lambert, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Southwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northfield only posted a batting average of .179.

Southwood's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Southern Wells, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.
