Football Recap: Herriman Falls Short Against Ranked Mountain Ridge

Herriman faced Mountain Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs took a 24-8 bruising from the Sentinels. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Herriman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of MacRae Parker and Cannon Brinton. Parker has been hot, having also posted six or more total tackles the last five times he's played. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mountain Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tytan Dejong led the charge by picking up 107 receiving yards and one score. That's the most receiving yards Dejong has posted since back in August.

Having lost for the first time this season, Herriman fell to 7-1. As for Mountain Ridge, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

Looking ahead, Herriman will challenge Copper Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Grizzlies' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.88 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Mountain Ridge, they will take on Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
