Recap: Perry Panthers vs. GlenOak Golden Eagles
The Perry Panthers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 69-35 defeat at the hands of GlenOak. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Perry in their matchups with GlenOak: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nico Martelli, who scored six points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Darnell Mcleod, who scored seven points.
Perry struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead GlenOak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reese Zerger, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Corey Lipkins, who scored 16 points.
Perry dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for GlenOak, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Perry will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Washington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday. As for GlenOak, they will face off against North Farmington at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. North Farmington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than GlenOak in their respective states (North Farmington is ranked third in Michigan, while GlenOak is ranked 37th in Ohio).
