Basketball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Piles Up the Points Against North Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lugoff-Elgin). They claimed a resounding 66-17 win over the North Central Knights. The Demons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 31 points or more this season.

Lugoff-Elgin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Samuel led the charge by putting up 18 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals. That's the most steals Samuel has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trinity Williams, who went 7 for 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals.

Lugoff-Elgin was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Lugoff-Elgin's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4. As for North Central, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lugoff-Elgin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against River Bluff at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Central, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll take on Central at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. North Central is facing Central at the right time seeing as Central is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
