Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Andrew Sepulveda and Oscar Plasencia Lead Mountain Empire to Victory

Mountain Empire can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against the Chula Vista Learning Community Charter Cobras by a score of 3-1. For the Redhawks, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Cobras walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Mountain Empire had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-17.

Leading Mountain Empire to victory were Oscar Plasencia and Andrew Sepulveda. Plasencia had six kills and one block, while Sepulveda had 22 kills and two blocks. Plasencia is also crushing it when it comes to assists: he's posted at least 14 every time he's taken the court this season.

The win got Mountain Empire back to even at 3-3. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mountain Empire will venture away from home to square off against School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire is facing School for Entrepreneurship & Technology at the right time seeing as School for Entrepreneurship & Technology is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bayfront Charter at 3:45 p.m. on April 8.
